Risk Assessments
Risk Assessments in safer.plus help you identify, evaluate, and control workplace hazards systematically.
Risk Assessments
Risk assessments are linked to processes and help identify hazards, evaluate risks and define control measures. The risk assessment methodology follows a 5x5 risk matrix and can be applicable to Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), Food safety or other risk assessments.
Creating Risk Assessments
The user can add a new risk assessment by clicking the Add New button on the Risk Assessments Section of the Process item page.
Risk Assessment Status
The status is set based on whether the risk assessment row has been completed or not:
- Draft: Risk assessment is in progress and not yet complete
- Approved: Risk assessment has been reviewed and approved
Risk Assessment Process
Creating Risk Assessments
- Navigate to the process
- Click "New Risk Assessment"
- Enter the hazards
- Enter the consequences
- Evaluate the risk and probability. The risk is automatically calculated based on the probability and severity of the hazard.
- Define Actions (control measures)
- Create work instructions
Reusable Risk Assessments
Risk assessments can be reused in other processes. Simply select an existing risk assessment row by clicking the Add Existing button.
Risk Matrix
The classification of the risk matrix is embedded in safer.plus but the user can create their own description for the risk matrix.
| Probability ▶️ Severity 🔽 |

Work Instructions
Work Instructions are typically generated for each process. In safer.plus however, Work Instructions are generated within each risk assessment row of the Process. The user adds the work instructions to the risk assessment row and the work instructions are automatically collected in the process.
This way, the user can focus on generating the work instructions related to the specific hazards.
The user can choose to reorder the work instructions at the Process level by dragging and dropping the work instructions.
Reusable Work Instructions
Since Risk Assessments are reusable, attaching an existing Risk Assessment to a process automatically attaches the work instructions to the process aswell.
Work Instructions change everywhere
Since work instructions are generated within each risk assessment row, any changes to the work instructions are reflected in all other risk assessments that are attached to the same process.
Dashboard Integration
Risk assessments are monitored through the Dashboard.
High risk assessments are always present in the dashboard until their risk is lowered by the user.
Best Practices
- Review risk assessments regularly
- Involve workers in the assessment process
- Document all identified hazards
- Keep control measures up to date
