Emergency Drills

The Emergency Drills module in safer.plus helps you track and document emergency response exercises.

Emergency Drills

Emergency drills are managed through the Drills module. Each drill can be assigned to multiple categories and linked to Actions for tracking improvements.

Managing Drills

Drill Status

Set the status of the drill based on the Expected and Completed dates:

  • Planned: Drill has been planned and has an Expected date but no Completed date
  • Completed: Drill has been completed and has a Completed date

Creating Drills

Basic Information

Each drill record includes:

  • Title
  • Site (for multi-site organisations)
  • Type of drill (multiple selections possible)
  • Date Expected (date initially planned for the drill)
  • Date Completed
  • Scenario
    • Description of the scenario that will happen during the drill. E.g. where the fire will burst, who will notice it, who will call the fire brigade, etc.
  • Summary
    • Summary of what happened during the drill. Recording all the facts, e.g. arrival time of the fire brigade, how many people were involved, etc.
  • Performance
    • An evaluation of how well the drill went, including staff, equipment and procedures.
  • Actions for improvements
    • List of actions to improve the drill

Drill Types

Available categories for drill classification:

  • Fire
  • Injury
  • General Health and Safety
  • Flood
  • Earthquake
  • Evacuation
  • Environment
  • Security

Multiple Categories

A single drill can be assigned to multiple categories. For example, a drill might be both "Fire" and "Evacuation".

Dashboard Integration

Drills are monitored through the Dashboard:

  • Upcoming drills (based on Expected date)
  • Completed drills
  • Performance trends
  • Linked actions status

Best Practices

  • Use clear, descriptive titles
  • Assign appropriate categories
  • Evaluate the performance including staff, equipment and procedures
  • Create relevant improvement actions
